In Venice, a grieving couple encounters two clairvoyants claiming contact with their dead daughter. Haunted by unsettling visions and eerie coincidences, the man becomes obsessed with a red-robed figure glimpsed in the city's canals. Roeg constructs a labyrinth where mourning bleeds into paranoia, and the boundary between the supernatural and psychological dissolves into dread.
