This collection is killer.
A group of petty criminals breaks into an abandoned house to retrieve a mysterious VHS tape. Left to search the property, they discover a working VCR still playing a series of fragmented and increasingly terrifying video recordings. Each tape reveals supernatural encounters and domestic horrors that defy comprehension. As the night deepens, the line between captured footage and lived reality collapses, turning their mission into an inescapable nightmare.
V/H/S weaponizes the found-footage anthology's structural chaos as a feature, not a bug. Where earlier entries in the subgenre strived for pseudo-documentary plausibility, Bruckner's frame—a crew ransacking a house for VHS tapes—grants license for radical tonal whiplash: you move from analog slasher pastiche to body horror to supernatural siege without apology. The film's real contribution wasn't the concept but the permission structure it gave smaller crews to abandon coherence. It proved that found-footage's strength lay in admitting its own artificiality.
