As the live episode unfolds, unsettling phenomena escalate on camera, blurring the line between entertainment and genuine terror. The desperation for ratings collides with something far darker, transforming the studio into a trap where the night spirals beyond anyone's control.
Late Night with the Devil doesn't reinvent found-footage, but it grasps something most films in the mode have forgotten: that the constraint serves legitimacy, not story. The late-night broadcast frame becomes a temporal trap, where the liveness of television itself becomes complicit. Cairnes uses the fixed perspectives of studio coverage and archival material to build an oppressive smallness—the antithesis of the roaming-camera chaos that exhausted the subgenre. It's found-footage that trusts the viewing frame as its own kind of witness, where what you see at the edges matters more than what's forced into focus.
