Drawing freely from Liaozhai folktales, malevolent erotic spirits haunt the mortal realm, spreading desire and corruption in their wake. Blending sensual horror with grotesque surrealism, the film mines classical Chinese supernatural legend through the excess and audacity of early-90s Hong Kong genre cinema. Pleasure and terror collapse into one another as shapeshifting entities blur the line between seduction and damnation.
