Some cases should never be opened.

A caseworker takes in a disturbed girl rescued from abusive parents, only to discover that the child isn't fleeing horror—she's carrying it with her. As unexplained deaths spiral outward, touching everyone close to her newfound protégé, the woman confronts an unsettling truth: this child is far more dangerous than any earthly cruelty, and her mercy may have awakened something irreversibly malevolent.
